omg! radishes!

I wasaway for almost two weeks and since I have been home it has been raining daily. Today is the first day I was able to get in the garden. And what did I find? Monster radishes!!

Holy wow! were they any good to eat!?! :/ I've had a few that got really tough and stringy as they got big. If these were still great, what kind were they if I may ask!?

I was surprised that they are good too eat! Usually large radishes tend to be kind of hollow without a crisp texture but these are wonderful. I planted a mix of Cherry Belle, Champion and Easter Egg Blend.

They sure look nice! I experimented last year with some radishes that got really hot when they got big. I chopped 'em up and added them to salsa. Surprisely good! Hot n crunchly, kinda like onions.

People often forget that radishes are also great to cook with, especially in stir fries.

Those radishes are huge, mine look to be getting pretty big too.

Wow, those are big radishes! Big as an egg it seems. Nice they were still tasty too. I love radishes, just plain with a little salt.

I can't handle much heat - altho' I did enjoy the wasabi with my sushi last night .

It may be the length of time the radish is growing that adds the most heat.

I doubt if the seed for those beautiful radishes went in the ground very many days ago, there at 50+ North latitude! They must have found the growing conditions just about perfect .

I planted them April 17. And they are not too hot - just the right bit of bite on the tongue. Last year I planted some long white radishes and WHOO HOO - they had more than bite. My son loves hot stuff and was surprised radishes could be so hot. Too much for me - I don't like my tongue to tingle after the meal is over.
