On this day, Christopher Latham Sholes received a patent for an invention he called the "Type-Writer." Hmmm, think I remember this machine.

Okay, that was in 1868. But, that keyboard looks like our household's Underwood that I learned to type on. So, it must be a newer, more modern, model.

that is pretty similar looking to the one we had around through most of my childhood. Mom used it a little, i used it more, but i never learned touch typing until i went to college and spent many thousands of hours typing at terminals for computers. my jr. high school typing class teacher would be amazed (because i flunked it).
