Does anybody out there know how deep to plant onion sets that are the type that look like trimmed scallions? These are ring masters and we have always planted seed or bulb type sets. Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

I would think like most bulbs you want to plant them on the shallow side. Thats how I did them. And they are growing great.

any body got any advice on how to use the onion scallions? or should I hold off for onions.

I always plant them the depth of the color change (white to green), with a little of the green under ground. You want the bulb to develope below ground.

I plant them so that the tips are visible and the bulbs are under the soil. If they have green on them then this should be above the soil but sets usually don't have green yet. They are very easy to grow:

1) don't bury them too deep
2) bury them tip side up
3) keep them weeded (they don' t compete well with weeds)
4) water them it gets dry

Easy.
