I planted some potatoes about a month ago and had a couple sprout a week and a half ago, and one just poke out of the soil today. I know some others have started to sprout since I got impatient and dug them up a bit just to see. Some just rotted (mostly the big ones), but others are just now started to put out sprouts (mostly the fingerlings). I sure know for next time to plant them much earlier!

Mine are on the table- waiting for them to sprout....Tried them in barrels last year, with limited success. Going right into the garden this year, we'll see what happens. Got organic potatoes from Maine Potato Lady...

I've heard it said that some potatoes are treated with an anti-sprouting solution for market purposes. If you used potatoes from the grocer, that may be part of the problem.

Now seed potatoes, you should not have had a problem.

Here, I don't have enough space in the garden or in the storage to grow potatoes. Not when decent ones are available cheaply. :D
