I live in a Hardiness Zone 8.
We have a number of beautiful Rhoddies which I'd like to propagate.

When is the best time to make cuttings?
And what is the best method for cuttings?

One of our trees has many branches which droop to the ground and are about 4-5' from ground to top. I assume they will make fine trees and grow very quickly since they've gotten such a good start. Any advice on how I should go about rooting the branches while they are still attached to the mother plant? And is there anything I should know about prunning them in regards to good balance and improved growth and health?

Earlier today despite being careful while installing a fence, I broke off a couple small Rhoddy branches. How much time do I have to root them and how do I go about it? I break the rare Rhoddy branch from time to time. Can I attempt rooting at any time of year? Are there any things I must do different for different seasons?
