The enthusiasm for a new crop must have always been a part of life. We are having lots of persimmons right now .

I wonder how common at home wine-making was during those years. I do have a theory about wine making. Civilization developed around those people. If they have acres of grapes and were sending wine out by amphorae. And yet, these folks still had to eat actual food! Trade!
