Another 'day in court' for us today. This was to set a trial date and set some time limits for legal maneuvers.
We did find that the neighbors' attorney asked our attorney if we would settle if we were paid for the land. That's a far cry from them owning it by default. The amount the attorney suggested -- a few hundred dollars -- was laughed at by our attorney who suggested land was running between $5000 and $10,000 an acre.
Then their attorney discussed searching for another 'law' to get the land. To me, that implies that the two legal precedents he was using to sue us for the land saw his case crumbling out from under him so he is grasping at straws. There is no way this third 'law' will stand in this case. It basically means they thought the land was theirs for so long that the land become theirs. Hah! They thought they owned far more land than this suit defines -- land that we have always used. There is no way they can get that precedent to work to take land that belongs to us.
I really want this settled and over with. DH is taking enough of my attention that I don't need this -- or trying to explain this situation over and over to a DH who doesn't still quite understand what's going on.
Last night DH "forgot" how to turn the water on in the shower. I heard him pounding and pounding on something so I went in to find he was lifting up and banging down on the diverter knob trying to get water, but had never turned on the faucet. A little thing that means nothing, except that there are so many little things piling up around me.
