We still have them, so I don't have to miss them much except for when I'm in someone's home who doesn't have them any longer. Then I miss them, as the smartphone generation can't even go to the toilet without their phones...weird as all get out.

I do like the convenience of the cordless phones but then, when the power is out for a few weeks at a time here, they are useless too. We have a regular phone on the wall with a long cord for those times.

I love the rotary phones...love dialing the number and watching the dial spin back in place and love the sound they made. As someone who grew up without phones for most of my formative years, phones are still a novelty to me. My grandma was on a party line, which was rather annoying as a few of the ladies would talk nonstop and one had to ask them to get off the line so one could make a call.

I miss phone booths...wish they still had them. They were a beacon of hope to many a stranded traveler.
