4-9yrs for native persimmon trees to fruit. Hmm, I wonder how long these have been here.
Height of 30-80 feet, spread of 20-35 feet. Well, these near the house definitely can't stay long term! Wonder if they can be trimmed to stay small...Big one is 10ft or so from the porch.
Found 7 heads!
Finally!
But the slugs are really damaging them....Put out poison and caught as many as I could find on the plants and around on the pots.
Oh, the cauliflowers are still growing. I went nuts with the slug pellets, nature cooperated(no endless rain), and now they're growing a few new leaves. They have shade up full time, too. Heads are growing on them. Been carefully covering heads with broken off old leaves, as there's not enough leaves to actually cover them any other way. Been checking to make sure they don't suddenly flower, or they'll be harvested right away!
I'll have to have them in a separate spot next year and a permanent little set up for shade for them, too. They're all in shade until about high noon. Level spot was more important than sunny. But also, sun/earth moves, so early spring had more sun than now. Will study the shade interactive map website for best location next year.
Corn has to move or a little berm added bc all of that rain runoff removed compost from them.
