My wife got work assignment for this week in Bend, Ore. . So, we had to wake up early to leave by 5 AM . Driving in the Cascades Mts. we saw several road kills on and on the edge of the road... 4 possums, 3 racoons, 1 crow, 1 very mangled deer, and 1 yearling bear. After we left the Mountains and entered Indian Reservation lands, we saw 2 bands of ferral horses. Also, a lone stallion that had obviously had lost his mares due to loosing a fight to another stallion or was the interloper that lost a challange. He had multiple open wounds on his body and limping badly, so in desperate need of Veterinary aid. That is IF a tribe member calls for a Verterinarian. ( there are numerous houses scattered throughout the reservation). And, if a Veterinarian is willing to come out, catch the stallion and treat it for free.
