When I cleaned up the runners of Mints planted on the outside window sills, I cut them into 2-3 cm pieces and planted them in the 5-7cm pots. As there are already roots, the growth is slow but stable.

In short, regularly checking and removing runners is helpful in controlling the spreading of potted Mints and an effective way to multiply them in a comparably short time.

Mint! I will need mint in my garden, when I plant one. LOL I like the pits idea, to keep it from taking over.

I have been keeping mint for over 20 years. It doesn't spread like everybody thinks it does. It is VERY easy to pull out. If you have acres of it and mowed it, it would be overpowering.
If you plant mint in a dry spot it will have some trouble taking.
I think in Texas mint should be no problem for you.

Each fall i bring in sprigs of the Chocolate mint and root them in a jar of water; these are about ready to go in the dirt. By spring i’ll have a half dozen nice plants that are used to refill any winter kill in the two mint beds.

The growth is slow but stable. Well, I can enjoy fresh mint tea in winter, how nice!
I will start feeding them with seaweed and pinch them maybe two weeks later.

If you want peppermint, don’t buy it. Mint, here, spreads then is impossible to kill. It sneakily spreads. One day, it’s under control, next day, where do you come from? Dig it out and it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
