We have heavy pick up every Wed, Tue night you see people driving around looking. I do think fear of bed bugs has stopped a lot of road side pick up. Was a time if you saw something being thrown out you had to stop right then or it would be gone. Now I see furniture at curb for days. Bet landfills are seeing a lot more furnture.

Are you where there is daily garbage pickup, NyBoy?

Some communities ..!

I wonder if the UK still has twice daily mail delivery ..?

Now, of course, all that is more comfortable than living where there is garbage delivery ..!

Some people ..!

I rely on this when I donate eggs, veggies, or fruit to a local food bank.

No, that link works, Ridge'.

I wonder how well the law works. I can imagine something finally coming before "the highest court in the land" ... after someone has struggled mightily through one court after another, piles of litigation, trying to defend themselves against someone who picked up salmonella at the food bank ...

You're to quick for me Steve. I saw it worked when I posted and tried to delete my comment. Too late.

I understand where you are coming from. You never know what will happen in a court of law, especially with a jury trial. Life is full of risks. I consider this one small enough that this specific risk will not stop me from doing what I think is the right thing to do. I also know that no good deed goes unpunished.

I was pleased to see the Good Samaritan act was named after a long time state representative from Missouri. He got re-elected for many terms, and after his death, his wife was elected. She served for several terms, usually unopposed at the polls.
As for my BIL destroying things he doesn't want; yes, he really does that. He's also the one that scrounges empty ink cartridges out of people's trash to take to Staples to get a refund.
This past week, my suddenly energetic DH put 3 weed trimmers and a lawnmower out by the curb. They were gone in about 10 minutes. Hope someone can make good use of them.

That has to be taken with a cosmological grain of salt ... :)

Ya get refunds from Staples for those things!!

We pay for this with high Taxes.
I know you do, NyBoy. I also know that people like to live where people like to live ... :)

Elsewhere, you know how some people say, "Everybody has to be someplace?" .... Don't know that one? You got neighbors with a 20-something son who sleeps on their couch? There ya go.

In Clark County ( including Vancouver, Wa.) one has a choice of once a week or once every other week trash pickup. If you have a heavy pickup you have to break it up into small pieces and place it in small cardboard boxes for an extra fee ( there is a litany of and rediculous restrictions in addition to ...one just can't break a large item up and place it into your regular garbage can or recycling can) or take it to the land fill yourself for a HIGH FEE if they deem it worthy of acceptance by one of their load inspectors. :he Just who is working for who when we pay for the garbage pickup service ??? :somad

Ridge, the link worked for me. I didn't know there was such a law. It's nice to know that at least it's there.
