Ahh gotcha thats a whole different scenario then. I was thinking a lot longer term. Id do the wood then and run with it. Another option might be railroad ties. Id still backfill whatever you put down so it can drain properly and will help hold it back.

Can I use those drain tubes Lowes sells and have that at the base, coming out the front/back and then gravel on top? I think I'd need something over the tube to protect it so it doesn't get smashed. Do I need gravel all the way up the height of the pallet?

I dont know about drain tubes but the diagram I saw had the gravel up from the base of the wall and stopped I think 8" from the top and that was just dirt. Maybe that was how deep he made it, since it wasn't that clear. Id contact someone that does design and them how deep/far from the wall to do the gravel and how high up just to be sure. I know drainage was the big concern to keep the wall in place.

We started digging out the hill and then went to dig out grass clumps from the garden. Tossed the clumps to the pigs and each rabbit also got one, they are soooo excited about it!
Looks like the retaining wall will have to be 3ft tall.

Ya know, that's a really cool hill! What did you decide to plant it with?

There's some kind of bulb flower in the low front side, that was there before we moved in. So I'm hoping heavy straw mulching will keep weeds away and let the bulbs grow through.

Honestly, I don't think it ever made it to flowering. We mowed it all down, thorns, weeds, grass and bulb plants. It's a mess of a hill. So, I have no idea. This year, I'll be carefully mulching around it and I'll post pics when it does flower.
