Show off your volunteers! **pics**

Actually, I don't! Except for the blasted buckthorn, which is officially an invasive weed and you don't want pictures of it anyway . . .

About the only thing I have growing right now that I didn't plant are a couple strawberry plants, edging their way right past the concrete border of their patch.

I *do* have a hollyhock that came from nowhere, I took a picture and posted it in the what plant is this section -- you can also find the pic in the photo collection that's linked down in my signature.

The hollyhock has now fallen completely over and can't stand upright, so the pic I got was definitely the best one I'll get!

I suppose the hollyhock counts as a volunteer, right? No others, though.

I have a terrible time posting pics with my old computer- but I love volunteers!! I would have to say finding them might be my greatest joy in gardening! I am just constantly amazed at nature. Things pop up in the strangest places! I found lettuce growing on my deck (which is 10 feet off the ground!) Every crack in the driveway and sidewalks sprouts something. I love where the birds plant sunflowers. I had thousands of volunteer cherry tomatoes, but I pulled them due to blight scare. Morning glories are another that I find everywhere- including in the middle of the lawn! And don't even get me going on what is growing in my compost pile!

I have sunflowers all around my house that are all volunteers... I will get shots soon. They are starting to fizzle out and become seeds for next year. :D

This thing is a monster. The head is about 8" across and it just started to open the other day. It's also about 4' tall.

Some type of zucchini?

Another Mysterini. Maybe the 8 balls I tried to grow last year that never came up. You can see a little round fruit if you look close.

I am thrilled about these. I have been using the flowers in the salad blends I am selling at the farmer's market

It looks a little scruffy, but it is a brussel sprout with 3 stalks coming out of the old dead one from last year I never pulled up :D

Can you guess where I dumped the quail bedding? I think these are BOSS.

I had one volunteer moon and stars watermelon plant come up in my peas. It produced one melon. It's in the fridge, now, chillin for later.

You are showing off, boggy! I can't grow watermelon when I try! Enjoy that beauty!

Surely hope to, lesa. Just hope it's ripe. The "curl" was completely dead....so it should be just right.
