Sick, sick, sick of rain!

We have had about 8 days of no rain in the past two months. Is anyone as tired of it as me? And poor west Texas is still in serious drought. This sure is a crazy spring!

We had eleven straight days of rain, one sunny day (Saturday), and then back to clouds yesterday - today rain, and rain every day until next weekend. At least it's going to warm up a bit, it's also been in the 50's, except for Saturday. Saturday was in the mid-70s until about 6:30, then it dropped to the low 50s as the fog rolled in - a 20 change in about 20 minutes! We've had springs like this before, but not for a long time - thankfully.

I sure am sick of it!!! We had the second rainiest April on record... I had high hopes for May- nothing but rain!! I finally gave up and just started gardening- wearing my winter coat!! We have had a few breaks of sunshine, but nothing lasting.
I can't even let myself think about tomato blight! Talk about perfect conditions!!! Sunshine!!

We've not had rain of any note for over 45 days. A light sprinkle twice, and one day of very light, brief, and intermittent showers. We're desperate for rain.

Yeah me too. But it's near impossible to work in mud.

Joz - I wish we could ship a few inches of rain down to you. By the way, how was crawfish season this year. Ummmmm I love dem mud bugs!

I may get slammed for this post but here goes . . .

I can't imagine why we cannot skip the 3.9 billion dollars that goes to Pakistan and use it to help our own people. We have hundreds of thousands of hurting families from the recent storms and flooding but our fearless (or should I say "senseless") leaders choose to help a country that has hated the USA for many years and harbors terrorists.

I am very disheartened by all this bad weather (I struggle with seasonal depression anyhow) and I feel so far behind, but I am trying really hard not to complain too much because of all the people hit by those enormous tornadoes and flooding and I know other places yet wish they had some of our water.

But man....surely it's got to stop sometime? I've been glad to see the sun peek out here and there the past couple of days, but the garden is still too wet to work in. We've been having pop-up storms this week...more on tap for the rest of the week too.

I hear you, Smiles. I hope those folks that have been hit so hard will get all the help and funding they need and deserve.

well, i'm taking advantage of all this rain. i finally set up my rain barrel for when we get the dryer time during the summer (if it ever plans to stop raining!) i was all ready to put in a pond this year but if this rain doesn't give us a break and a chance to get the hole started it may never get done this year. my pond plants will have to live it out in overflowing Rubbermaid containers on my deck!

The only silver lining I can see to all this rain, is that it is great weather for transplanting! I dug up some very old hollyhocks from another property and brought them home. I couldn't get much of a root (they were growing into the sidewalk and driveway). They never would have made it without the constant watering. They are doing well. We also planted 3 trees- they look perfect!! So, there is one good thing about the rain! Yes, my heart goes out to all of those folks dealing with the tragic weather... We don't have much to complain about....
