aside from the change of the trees what are other signs you notice when the end of summer draws near and fall is on the way?

among the first ones i notice is the Blue Jays come back and start calling around (and making sounds like squeaky wheels).

another was noticed by me this morning. i'm cold! brr! it's 69F in here - now have to start acclimating the other direction again. we goes ups and we goes downs... i am so glad to not have to run the AC for days at a time now. we'll have some warm days still yet, but at least the trend is back to moderate temperatures here or there for a change. :)

harvesting squash and dry beans season is certainly here. melons are past the halfway mark. onions are in and curing. tomatoes are also past the halfway mark in the harvest, we'll be picking again this morning as soon as the dew is off them. probably the last big picking of them.

burying beans and getting gardens prepped for winter.
