Our Silver Lace / Sweet Autumn Clematis LOVED this crazy summer. Most things suffered. But is has grown and blossomed like CRAZY! That is an 8 foot tall fence.

that is what ours looked like in the late summer/fall. beautiful!

alas, deer and rabbits kept eating it and one winter was too much
for it and it never recovered.

Does it smell wonderful? It's beautiful. I tried growing Sweet Autumn but it's only marginally hardy most winters here.

that could have been the problem with ours too, we replanted a few times but they didn't seem to last and the animals were always eating them all winter.

My poor little silver queen put out about 7 blooms this summer.
THAT is the most beautiful clematis EVER!!!! :love
Thank You Cane, it is doing very well. Replaced a honeysuckle vine that we think the neighbors killed when giving it a severe trim of what over hung the volley ball court. (Never mind that their unchecked bind weed grows through fence and strangles every thing on my side or goes to seed and spreads every where! )

Might be ours is very protected from winds and animals. The fence keeps winds and snow drifts down and dog keeps bunnies out of back yard.
