i'll stick by my original post wondering if the root system was malformed or influenced by where it was planted. that you can only tell by when you uproot it either at the end of the season or when you transplant it if you are going to try to bring it in for the winter. if there are other plants doing well, i'd just move those instead if you do want to bring them in. otherwise, end of season is kaput and not much else to be done as i'm not sure you'd get a longer season if frosts come around soon anyways? not sure of the length of your season there...
