That happened to us a few weeks back. Seemed like the earliest spring ever and just when I was getting psyched up for it -bam! winter part two.
Yesterday I was checking the March 2017 entries in my blog to see when I started seeds and opened the greenhouse. On the first day of spring 2017 we got 2 feet of snow!

I showed DW this webpage a few days ago. Then, and IF this was October, we would think that a hurricane was coming to North America!

Link

Since then, it went north and banged against the British Isles. Spinning off, it’s pulling all sorts of cold and bad weather into Western Europe. Meanwhile, the storm is still in the Atlantic but crashing rain, snow and high tides against the Northeast of North America.

It needs to go away at some time!

i love 'em, but yes, they can be pests when population gets large.

they are life at high speed when they are up and always fun to watch.

we have some of the spring flowers starting to push up through the ground more now, but this winter isn't over yet. i don't really consider it done until after the middle of April and we can still get frosts after that.

See? Wrong time of year and my flock made it through a harsh winter fine. Even my new hens continued to lay ALL WINTER, although it was only 0-1-3 eggs/day. The other day I got 8 eggs/12 hens, including 3 of my now 3-4yo hens. Here is a photo of most of the flock from wednesday, Feb. 28th:

No snow at the end of February ... well, I guess that's often the situation here.

Nice looking flock, coop and yard, @ducks4you .

Should we think that those are gate panels?

Yep. CRAZY neighbor (now moved) told me years ago that he didn't want them anymore. I said I would take them. He said, not now. Then, one Saturday, out of the blue, he tells me that if I want them I need to take them TODAY! All 3 DD's, DH and I drove the truck over and moved them. It took until 2016 for me to set them up for my chickens. There are all in good shape, although a few of them needed to be coaxed away from tree of paradise saplings, and one has a top that is pushed in. They make a 12 x 30' run and have kept predators away pretty well. I have a short chain with a spring lock on each end and that is how I know that I closed the gate up, on those days when I do my chores tired bc I can see the chain from the house.
Crazy neighbor moved away, thankfully.

Wow. No snow. We still have tons, but at least it's a bluebird day and gorgeous. That kind of helps.
