That's a good point Ridgerunner, I think that was one of the problems when I planted them was that the soil was too cool, and then I mulched on top of that and it never warmed up enough for them to thrive. I put my slip starts by the water distiller which puts out tons of heat and noticed a spurt of growth, but the lightbox is a better idea since it's more consistent.
I like your setup. I made a lightbox for my pepper starts that's similar, but really kind of on the small side.
