My winter squash is doing really well. I don't need large amounts for just two people. Can I cut back the vines to let the squash that is already growing get bigger. I thought that way the plant will put it's energy into growing the squash instead of the vines...GloriaH

this question was asked about pumpkins a couple days ago, same thing applies. Just let only maybe 2 grow on each vine and they will be bigger, clipping the vines wont make a difference.

The vines can really take over a garden if left to grow. You will usually find that several of the imature squash that form way down the vine won't get to a decent size before the end of the growing season anway. Cutting the tip of the vine off, as mentioned, will help allow the remaining fruit to get bigger, and prevent garden take over...:)
