strawberries too deep

I planted my strawberries back in Feb... and they have not come up at all..

so I started digging and I think I planted them too deep.. The reason that I started digging in the first place is because I was reading somewhere to plant witht he little tuber thingie at the surface.. well when digging I had to go like 8 inches in some spots where I buried them too deep..

so I replanted them with that ball at the top

I really hope they make it..

The crown, which is the little tuber thingy (lol) should be 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the ground.
