hi everyone , over the weekend i planted 15 strawberry plants, they came as bare root. i have never dealt with bare root before . i put them in the dirt and spread the roots open into a circle pattern with the "crown" sitting above the dirt. has anyone ever had bare root strawberries and how well do they produce ?

where are you located (roughly)?

yes, that's about how to do it, with a cone of dirt that you put the crown on top and then the roots out around.

generally you do not want the crown to be too far above the level of the dirt but also not buried too far down. watering them in after planting and then adding a bit more dirt if it has settled too much can help as also some mulch after they are in place to help protect them and hold them.

Welcome to the forum from the Pacific Northwest! I have never tried that with strawberries. I have only grown them in ceramic planters and I purchased little starter plants.
