almost got the garden done i was working on clearing of weeds. it isn't preppped for planting but just having it cleared of weeds will help the planting go faster when i get back to it.

I usually see a few garter snakes in the summer here while hiking.

what is tough with snakes is that they can hide well and may startle you and that reaction can probably cause some potential tripping and falling damage. i wonder if it got close to the killdeer nest... i'll find out later.

black ant season is here. they have nests around and i have to keep track of them enough to make sure they don't get nests going in the walls, etc. of the house. yesterday they were working on one trail so i stomped on those i could and put out some bait to take them out. i have a few tubes of caulk to seal up any gaps they might be using in the walls - plug up some and then wait to see what other gaps they use... it takes time and patience, but if i don't do it they can cause a lot of damage.
