stubbed toes and mud pies

i knew we had another killdeer nest out back inside or outside the fence, but i'd not yet found it until yesterday when i went to work on the onion patch and hoped to get the peas planted. the nest is only a few feet from the onion patch.

at first the killdeer Mom did the usual sqwawk and flutter the wings to try to decoy me into chasing her (which never works). i just calmly worked on the onion patch sitting on my ground pillow and moving only a little bit. after about 15 minutes she came back to stand over her eggs and was looking at me but at least she wasn't sqwawking any more.
Well let's be honest 🤔
Only chatting with you online for the past almost six years. Tells me that you're hardly the big bad wolf.

Never heard of a kill deer bird before
i talked to her a bit as i was weeding. she didn't talk back and she didn't make a peep when i left.

i didn't get the whole thing done and no peas got planted but maybe i'll finish that today or not. not sure until it happens these days. chances of rain and pretty warm today (this afternoon) until Tuesday.

Here is a baby killdeer, @Marie2020 . A plover ... about the same coloring for the adult and the same crazy legs :D.

Here is an American robin. It's a thrush.

A little bit of a contrast with the European robin, a finch.

Steve, hoping it was okay with FlowerBug to insert these and he would be completely willing to delete.
