I have tried a couple different times to grow sweet potatoe's with no sucess. Well this year after a little more research I realized that they were not like regular potato's and you needed to get the slips and start them that way. Well I planted chunks with the slips already growing hoping that I would get some sweet potato and have had nothing until today while digging out some bermuda grass from the potato patch I found them weeee little potatoes. Also my MIL gave me some slips that she had started with roots so I planted those as well today.

So my question is do I cover the sweet potato's like I do regular potato's?

Sweet potatos grow down ~ starchy potatos grow up.

So plant sweet potatos in a a deep bed and starchy potatos in a shallow bed and add layers of soil through the year.
