In recent times, #8 came in very handy when it solved a design problem in my kitchen. Our 40 year old microwave, built into a wall cabinet on the other side of the room, died with a wrenching electronic scream. (I now use it as a storage cabinet.) So we wanted to get a table to house the new microwave. However all the tables we found online were the wrong size, or else they had support shelves underneath which would interfere with the pets' water dishes.
Then the solution came to us - a student desk! This baby is just the right size, and easily tough enough to hold a heavy appliance, yet provides easy access for the dogs' re-hydration station. The only difficulty was finding a place that sells single desks; most sell them in lots of 20 or so.
