Well, not entirely on my own. I have Penny to keep me company. DH has gone to Colorado with a buddy, in a motor home, trailering their dual-purpose bikes.
So far, I haven't done anything exciting. I often have a hard time getting motivated; hopefully I will feel like doing something besides sitting around watching TV and surfing the web. I have been sewing a little, but I get bored easily. Making doll clothes right now.
Penny is definitely missing her favorite human. She got used to him taking her to the creek and letting her go wild when they walk. I'm more likely to jerk her back in line, and not let her get in the poison ivy. Or dead possum, which was the case a couple days ago before DH left.
We are to have two or three dry days in a row, with temps in the 80s. Maybe I will be inspired to get out in the garden and pull up a lot of drowned plants.

Oh! Take advantage of your unfettered time!

When dh used to take the boys camping I would wander around listlessly for the first day. So weird not having somebody to take care of. Then I went into action with a big project I had been itching to do. My style at projects is different than dh's and I wanted to get it done before he got home and insisted on redoing it right. :p

One time when they planned on being gone a week, before he left he looked at me solemnly and told me to please not pave the (gravel) driveway. Haha!

Made me wonder if I could get it done...

Down time how good is that. Your time's your own, as much as I love my hubby, to be on my own, not having to leave what I'm doing to make a meal or go somewhere when in the middle of something.
Ahhhh pure bliss, even eating out of a pot hanging over the kitchen sink, only a fork or spoon and the pot to wash... or make a meal out of veggies and dip, feet up and a good movie, those were the days.

Agree with them. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, NO GUILT. When kids were young, I looked forward to my time alone when she took them to visit her folks. Now, I miss those days alone as kids gone.

I get bored and lonely when my husband is away. But I also like the idea that I don't have to cook cause I can grab anything to eat or just scramble an egg. I usually do all my shopping and hitting any new stores. Not really buying anything just hunting for a bargain lol.

DH was gone a lot the last two years. He spent almost one week a month in Maryland for classes. I always enjoyed it. For all the reasons listed above. ;) The only messes I had to clean up where my own. No one constantly channel surfing and I could watch what I wanted or not even turn the TV on! Bliss.

Didn't she just say that she and Penny are leashed together on every outing, Thistle'?

You might be So Lucky to find out where Penny really wants to go. Or, try to please her, leash or no leash ... like me and DW ;). I'm not sure if I'd ever had grown non-red beefsteak tomatoes if I hadn't been trying to bring her around to appreciating something other than red cherries. She has gone full circle but it took years. Anyway, it was all a meaningful experience for #2.

Or, am I #1 and, just trying to be gallant?

Steve ;)
