My beans (Solwezi and Cape Sugar 2) are finally flowering. I'm not sure they'll make it to maturity here, but I am cautiously optimistic.

@Bluejay77 I would like to ask for a few of the weaver beans, I love snap beans, I planted some yellow wax beans, (generic I got from Lowes) and they are now peaking out. I finally have small beans on the vines and hope to have plenty for you when they finally decide to get to work!

Well I'm not a bean affienado but I do like to read this thread. @digitS' gave me some soldier beans and we planted only 6 since that's all the room we had. From these plants we got 330 beans!! The kids and I had so much fun growing them and we all wanted to open the pods! This morning I had the last 2 pods in my pocket and one of my little girls asked me if I had soldier beans in my pocket. This is the first time that 6 preschoolers were exposed to soldier beans and probably growing dry beans. Thanks a bunch Steve!

You can always try extending the season by covering them on those frosty nights for the first week. If the pods have gotten to the yellow stage for a while and a frost is threatening you can always pull up the entire plant, roots, pods and all and dry them inside a garage or somewhere inside. Let the pods dry until they are crisp and you should still have some nice seed. Once pods with seeds inside that contain a good amount of moisture freeze then that is the end of them. The water in the cells freeze breaking cell walls finishing the life of the seed.

Wow I don't know alot about beans but I love planting them and then collecting the pods I through them all in a basket opening them is a little surprise! I love sharing them too! I may need to buy some more property if I keep up this bean fixation!!!
