The Pond Thread

Are you “south enough” that water hyacinth would survive? They‘d look grand and replace the plastic shade panels.
Nope.
Tried to keep them indoors for winter, but it failed.

Got the 2nd, new pump going.
It wasn't finished being built, so it almost broke!

Too soon for underwater, I guess.

Babies being brave.

They keep spawning!
Pulled some plants with eggs on them & put them in with the QT koi. Saw one fry while removing plants.

Started working on the bog!
It'll be huge!
Or might shrink it some, not sure yet. One or two steps down.
Husband bought purple taro & water hyacinth.

Finalized how I want the bog based on how the ground is & not wanting a ton of pressure right on the edge. So, it'll step down about 2-3ft from the edge. Need to do a little digging and leveling. Then buy or use wood for the first step wall. Have rebar for supporting it.
Irises are blooming, even though the koi are trying to relocate them all. Lol
And the lily is real happy today, 5 flowers!

Got the bog walls done. Need to figure out the spill over wall. Then fill cells with dirt & add liner.

Got the blocks filled & stamped down. Need to add more dirt, backfill to keep water moving around & away and but a few more blocks for the spillway...
Looks like I forgot about the height. Lol

Realized today, that I need to move the wall back a foot. Too close to edge & too saggy.
