Those look beautiful. Sadly, around here you don't see any. I guess we plant different roses.

Those are rugosa roses Mary. They have the biggest and prettiest hips of all!

rugosas - yeah, they have beautiful hips if you can get past those thorns. they don't share nicely

I have what is supposed to be a knockout climbing yellow rose. It has pretty yellow blooms, but so far not looking much like a climber. Anyway, it's covered in big, red hips just like those. Should I do anything? Or just enjoy the seasonal variety. Do they need to be removed at some point?
(What are they anyway? Seeds??)

Rose hips are seed pods. They hold many seeds inside each hip - rather like a pomegranate without the juicy coating. Rose hips are also high in vitamin C.
I have several rugosa roses and they do make good sized hips. I think they are rather tasty.
