They are predators, @ducks4you . Stealthy when they choose to be. (Of course, my world tends to be on the quiet side ;).)

Predators are built for conflict. Absolute chaos on my front lawn one morning when an accipiter hawk tried to catch a house sparrow in a large rose bush. He might not have known what he was getting himself into!

Obviously a coyote, nearly tore my pea trellis down on recent year. The dead rabbit left 10 yards away must have been the intended prey. And yet, Wiley wasn't hungry. Nothing was eaten. After I carried Benjamin out of the garden and buried him, oh yeah sure, something came in, dug him off, and carried him away for a late night snack. Wiley, I'm looking at you!

My kitty, Midnight, had a stroke last Friday. She died this morning.

One of my neighbors owns several cats. On arecent visit, she introduced them to me: "That’s Astrophe, that’s Erpillar, that’s Aract, that’s Alogue."

“Where on earth did you get such unusual names?” I asked.

“Oh, those are their last names,” she explained. “Their first names are Cat.”
