Tomato Pictures 2014

That must be a very satisfying experience for you, Bay'.

All the way from a silly seed to fruit that brings an expression of joy to a loved one's face.

Tired, olde and grumpy - I don't have many talents in life but this is one I can sometimes pull off.

Yes, @digitS' we just got a short burst of rain and sat on the front porch to watch it. The sun came back out and we walked around the garden. My DH picked his Tommy Toe tomato and ate it with a big smile.

Those yellow pear tomatoes bring back good memories for me. I should have planted at least one for my one tomato-loving grand daughter.

This is what we picked today. When ya'll start picking, eating and posting tomato pictures, I will post pics of my dead, dry, brown vines.

On the far left, with green shoulders is a Gypsy, right below it is a Gypsy with the purple side up. The big tomato next to them is a Cherokee Purple, there are 2 San Marzanos, 9 Homestead, a few Tommy Toes, another Cherokee Purple on the right and a double handful of Yellow Pear. I don't have room for lots of plants, so I have several of each variety. I put some in the freezer today until I get enough to can. Once again, credits go to my husband for the Tomato Art! LOL

Yes, @baymule, I saw them in your tomato collection. Was wondering how you knew they were ripe? That green shoulder is a bit confusing, yes?

The Gypsys and another attempt at Black Sea Man are the only tomatoes that are not planted in the ground. Otherwise, all 60 or so are doing well. That's about two each of 30 varieties (more or less).

I have been watching the Gypsys for a couple of days, I pick early to keep the birds and squirrels from picking/pecking for me! I googled pictures of the Gypsys today, some showed green shoulders and some showed all purple. So now that the picking dilemma is out of the way, next is when to cut them to eat.

Beautiful, Baymule! Love the Gypsies. They look so amazing that they must taste delicious, right?

We are just starting to get tomatoes here.
