We got a tornado watch in effect.

I well remember those tornado watches from when I lived in tornado alley. I had one pass about 50 feet over my head once and I could look right up into the funnel. What a rush that was.

Is it just a faulty memory or is the weather changing? I spent a lot of my early life in New Jersey and New York states and can't remember ever hearing of a tornado there.

We have had a few "micro" storms in the past. A tornado like event that chops off the top of trees and takes a few roofs. I think the weather is changing and becoming much more unpredictable. Nothing happened here, but my daughter is on Long Island and she said it was very windy- that would be the second time this summer they have had tornado watch. The skies are clear here now...
I'd bet money that your memory is spot on, Hoodat!
