My heartiest welcome also goes out to @FisherMOM as well. Those weeds are growing here in south-est, central-est Wisconsin as well as in your part of New York! They are called
Buffalo Burr (a.k.a.) Spiny Fake Watermelon Plant with Yellow Flowers), and would be nasty things if I didn't take all of them out before the bloom is over. What I don't see don't bother me overly much.
