Steve where does one get venison in the big city? Is not wild game illegal to sell?
One of my neighbors raises quite a few Axis deer ( spotted like a fawn ) from India and sells the meat in Fresno butcher stores. Fences are about 8 ft. tall and some still jump them from time to time.

It's quite a ways from fancy, Journey.

The recipe must be very similar to Aunt Alene's. I can remember the discussion on beef tallow. It's very spicy and sweet.

Other than her mincemeat, I've made the pies with Borden's (LINK). Of course for the guy who doesn't make pie crusts, it was totally easy.

Yes, Aunt Claris used to make real mince meat pies. I was too young at the time to bother getting a recipe. For me it was like pecan pie. I could eat a small piece once a year and enjoy it, but wouldn't want (or enjoy) it every other weekend.

I've had mincemeat pie. Once.
Dad loved it and mom always made it for him. I can not tell you what was in it because I don't know. Can't say I was ever curious enough to find out either.

Oh, my sis likes it. She tells me that there a lot of things I don't like.
Not so. I just don't like all the weird things that she likes.
