I went to WINCO and got our regular stuff, plus I grabbed a few long term items for going down into the deep pantry. . When I was checking out, I mentioned to the fella that Sunday is my hub's 72 birthday and he loves parsnips (of which I had several lbs). OH MY GOSH he said! I LOVE parsnips!! WOAH I said. How do you like them best?
He likes to cut them into coins, then cover with panko crumbs and fry in butter! YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told him I've tried so many times to grow them, with no success. He said his Grandma taught him how. Plant a row of seeds. Tend them and let them overwinter. The next year tend them, and let them overwinter. Then the 3rd year, at harvest time I'll have long thick parsnips ready to pull!! He said thats the way we have to grow them here. COOL!!
