I hope you can hear this on the other side of the pond from me
I am only two percent Scottish apparently and according to my dna a large part of me is actually Irish ( I was really surprised about that). But I've alway loved my Irish porridge@Marie2020 , my maternal Canadian grandfather apparently always said that he was from a Scottish family although his grandparents on both sides and for a generation or so were in southern England before their migration to N America. His oldest son even had that ancestry put on his father’s death certificate.
On the paternal side there was a guy with my surname who arrived in the 1600’s in Virginia and it’s claimed that I showed up as a descendant about 300 years later. A Dutch surname but he may have been living in Scotland before striking out to the west across the waters.
BTW, the guys in the band are twins. Their Scottish accent makes it difficult for us Americanos to understand that they are repeating the names of cities that are “no more” homes for the immigrants for whom they now wish “A letter from America.”
