I haven’t forgotten, sitting at a friend’s kitchen table and hearing Booker T & the MG’s on the radio for the first time . What was that DJ thinking, playing “Green Onions” to a kid interested in growing vegetables?

Steve went on to write, produce and play with the MG’s and for others, including this one a few years later. Otis didn’t live to hear this recording. He was sitting not all that far from where I was in 1967 when he came up with the idea for the song. Steve Cropper had moved around a little by then also and continued doing so! I hope he enjoys his birthday today.
