My first cornflower bloomed today :) I know they look a bit wild, weedy and thistley, but they are always my first full-sun flower to bloom, and they are tough as nails. If I am good about keeping them dead headed they will go all summer long.

The lilac is not from my yard, but they are blooming everywhere this week. My daughter picked these alongside the road on our walk today.

The only one left blooming in the house; sometimes we bring them outside in the shade, weather permitting.

I know, I love unusual colored plants. This is so dark it is nearly black :love
I too am fond of black flowers, for contrast. It's why I recently got seed for a black flowered sage (Salvia discolor, native to the Andes) black coral pea (Kennedia nigricans) and a few others (I think Macropitilium atropurpureum has black flowers, based on the picture I saw)
