Whats the best way to generate heat?

now steve i grew up at tahoe 32 years, but have been living in north carolina for the last 16 years which is way below the mason-dixon line.
have to say still miss those snowstorms that drop 6' at a time chaining up a 4 wheel drive just to get around. here if we get 3" of snow the region is shut down for days.
still remember waiting at the bus stop for school in the middle of a snow storm the sound of a broken link on the tire chains on the bus coming up dollar hill, bus #17 bus driver lee was always on time and if you where late oh well. backpacking the back country have even done the pacific crest trail start to finish with my brother.

you can take the man from the mountain, but you can not take the mountain out of the man
with that said being from northern california, i should be more neutral towards you northerners and southerns problems but since i'am transplanted here i lean towards the south.

Everything that grows in the North ..

. leans towards ..

. the South.

I kind of like having a break in the winter (from planting and weeding and such). There are still some greens alive in the hoop house, but otherwise everything is preserved in some way or already consumed. I will use some of my free time to read the Fedco catalog, which has just arrived. :weee

You tell 'em @buckabucka !

I went through my favorite drive thru coffee shack today while Christmas shopping and my favorite little friendly barista asked me where my tool trailer was.
I'm off for the winter! I gurgled happily.
What do you do to keep busy? she asked.
Busy? Why do I want to be busy? I want to put my feet up by the fire
and read. Busy is for the other 8 months of the year when I run into myself coming and going.

So jealous of you thistle. I have always wished I could be off for the summer. I guess I'm lucky, I have 1 week of winter break, and 2 weeks in the summer, and all federal holidays.

Well gee, if I had a choice I'd rather have the summer off. But there just aren't that many people around here who want to pay me to garden in the winter.

I'm not feeling up to a decent answer and I'm biting my tongue on the indecent ones.

Your winter pass times are appealing and possible today here in south-est central-est Wisconsin, but a blanket of snow would dampen the fun.
