When you buy seed from most US companies you get the impresion they are small independent companies but if you trace the ownership back far enough you will usually find that you are actuallly dealing with Monsanto. Here is an extremely infomative article about the modern seed industry. Take a little time for it. It's a long article but well worth reading.

hoodat, since you and boggybranch are our official librarians, do you KNOW how virulent are the lab-created genes in these altered vegetables?
I want to be clear: I KNOW that they will cross-pollinate with any other flowers, heirloom or hybred, BUT, are they strong enough to affect other generations, like the genes traditionally bred into animals are strong enough to consistantly produce the same traits?

I want to know if they will stay on my property and breed traits if introduced by me or my neighbors?

OR, are these genes like "Dolly the Sheep" whose cloned genes turned out to old, like the donor, so cloning has turned out to be a poor way to replicate same.

Any studies or online articles on this? :caf

Interesting logic. Did they create the dirt they grew in, too, or doesn't anybody give credit to God anymore for THAT!!
So...teachers should patent the way they teach, and claim that they were the first to do it that way.
Lawyers should patent their arguments.
Advertising agencies should patent frequently used fonts, so that they can collect money before the next person does.
DD should patent some of her favorite words...the words that she is POSITIVE she created, then heard used everywhere later.
...ad nauseum...

hypno... they frighten me! To the point I'm afraid they are stalking my little house with their goons!

Thanks for the article Hoodat, I'm still going through it, but I sent a copy to a few people I know. I knew many of these companies were interlaced... but I just never knew how deep, and I had no idea, just how far? I think that is the point of it though? Right? 6 degrees of separtation is in the best interest of a company who doesn't want to be connected to companies selling to the population that hates Monsanto. They want their business anyways, and this is how they do it!

They even tried to patent Neem oil. It was only after India took them to court and proved that farmers in India had been using it for thousands of years that they backed off.

Good thing the country of India backed them up! Monsanto takes people to court to just BURY them in costs until they give up and give in. Its not about them being right, its about them being RICH.
