BJ, those are some awesome tomatoes! Beautiful garden veggies! I grew a couple of black krim last year but was not real impressed. But yours are gorgeous! This year I am growing Cherokee Purple and I like them.

Steve, what is this Gary O Sena? pictures please?

Bay', you already have half of the parentage. Gary O Sena is from the Brandywine X Cherokee Purple cross.

The plant is a scraggly thing and suffering a bit from the weight of the developing tomatoes. I try to remove all fruit when I transplant but probably overlooked these because the variety is so new to me and I have some hope that it will work out to be a good choice. Yeah, it amounts to an attempt at cheating.

The guy who did the cross claimed that taste was the most important factor in his selection of this variety. It is, however, reported to be earlier than either of the parents.

We finally have rain. I was watering all last week. Yay for rain.

Spent a good while yesterday evening doing some weeding and such. Had some help! Benzo & Lito's tractor isn't very far away so I decided to see if they would follow me over there. And they did! A couple of hours later, when it started to get a little dark, they followed me back to the tractor. It was great!

Everybody's harvests look so beautiful and delicious! We have just started getting summer squash, but nothing else yet. Lots of tomatoes set, though, so soon. . .

I don't understand rain in the summer. It makes no sense at all. Rain is for winter and spring. Can't wrap my brain around not having to water all summer and fall.

Canesisters, that is so cool that your chickens kept you company in the garden! That is a pretty picture of them.

rolled out of the house this morning to finish up weed eating in the raised beds, our neighbor came over thanked me for mowing their yard, asked her do you like beans? yes the kids love them.
pointed to the yellow beans and told her they could pick all of them, come back a few minutes later with her boys told them to just pull up the whole plant and pick the beans off and throw the plants in a pile on the other side of the fence.
< arterially motive.. they pulled and picked and all i had to do was run the mini tiller though there and replant>
and yes this time it is blue lake pole beans....

Nice haul Major! I actually got to harvest a bit myself today. Found a few turnips ready to go I have a very good recipe I created for them. I'll share it out when I make it

I have one single little bitty butternut squash plant that is on it's last breath thanks to the bugs. it produced what was going to be a gorgeous butternut squash - one mind you. since the plant is done, do I treat the squash like a summer squash & just cut it up & saut or whatever - or do I try to dry it. I don't know what to do with this half grown little beauty that never got the chance to be all she was going to be.
