If she's used to getting out, it can be a pain to break her of that habit. I had three that learned to escape and I went up a few more feet with the run fencing to stop it. If you can, covering it with netting will work too. It depend on how your run is built.

As far as retraining her where to lay, I've had pretty good success if you can catch them on the nest getting ready to lay. They are usually pretty easy to catch while on the nest. I lock them in a nest box until they lay that egg. This usually takes about a half hour, then I release then. I did have one hen that took about three hours before she laid the egg. She's also the only hen that I had to lock up twice in the nest box before she relearned where to lay.

Mine were laying on the floor in the coop, not out in the weeds and brush. That might have made it easier. And I think you are right. She probably got stuck outside and could not get back in to lay her egg.
