What has been your best gardening investment?

This year, it was a nice pair of clearanced, yellow gardening gloves with the sticky stuff on the outside, to help pull weeds :thumbsup

Next year, I have a feeling it will be gettting my soil tested

Best recent investment (last year): having the big old poplars we had taken down, chipped and dumped in a giant pile by the driveway. I am about halfway through it now, but that's still a LOTTA mulch (and by mulch I mean also 'soil amendment') :)

Also I finally broke down and bought a hoe at a farm auction this year, for $2, and would say I've gotten at least $2 worth of use from it so far :)

The bunnies. I love to eat them but they are way more valuable to me as constant compost and soil fertilizer. When I feel that the plants get too much fertilizer from fresh poop, I add it to the compost and it really heats it up. I also bought 6 yards of nursery soil.
