windy here today and some rain later in the evening. i'm glad i got home before it really started to rain.

i hear the wind blowing out there tonight and the wind chimes are clanking away.

not too cold, it could be much worse...

if i'm indoors i'm never bored and can always find things to do. if i'm feeling antsy it is usually because i'm waiting for something and don't want to start some other task and be interrupted because my overhead for switching tasks is rather high (in computer science this is called thrashing aka when you spend more time on switching tasks than actually accomplishing anything). however, i always have stuff i can clean up so a really good task for times when i'm waiting is to clean my desk off and get some spot cleaning done. i can get a lot done in a few minutes in this tiny room here.

outside the only real limitations are when it is muddy or too cold or too hot and then it is only a question of how much my body can handle before it starts complaining. gladly Mom is very understanding so she doesn't ride me about stuff (that's a certain way for me to get less done).

The sunny weather is finally allowing the onion seed to sprout in the greenhouse. Tomorrow may only be okay and the week ahead might not be less than sunny.

That's kind of okay for those onions and I have other seeds to start indoors and it's likely that nothing will be ready for the South Window for the next 7 days. Celeriac can go out to the greenhouse but may as well be started in the kitchen. Peppers are already in the kitchen. Asian Greens. Some very Special Lettuce. Tomatoes & Eggplant.

We have had days and days of 25mph winds+. Right now, we have high wind warnings until midnight, pretty windy tomorrow, too. Some rain, and supposedly it is now mixing with snow.
I dunno--I got wrapped up making a cherry pie from my frozen cherries.
It took 90 minutes to pit them all!! I stood at the sink the whole time.
Tastes good, though. It is baking, and we will take it to DD's house for dessert.
There is enough filling left over for a smaller pie, too.
Kinda promised everybody I would make it today. Fed the ponies early.
Sorta got my nose out of joint bc stupid nurses won't give me a refill of tramadol. Last prescription was for 30 tablets, got it 3rd week in January, bottle says, "once every 6 hours, as needed."
I am NOT going through it like candy.
I got a little bit snarky online--"I'm not going to beg."
Pain in my left knee this morning before I took the last one I had was "9." Last pill I took was Saturday night.
I will probably start looking for something else to buy online for pain.
I like my wine. I often nurse an inch of wine in a glass while I watch evening tv.
Can't help it if other people drink it like a fish, or take pain pills like they are going out of style.
Had to rant.
I will attach a picture of the pie later on tonight--won't have time to do this before we leave for dinner.
I would make you all a cherry pie, but I only have about 7 other frozen bags. We discovered that the ones I canned don't taste as good for pie, so I hope to Finally start making some wine with it.

Ducks I totally get it. I went thru similar issues . They are trying to ween you off of pain meds. The biggest problem after surgery is addiction to this drug. They are ruthless . Easy to not support a surgery patient when they have not experienced the pain and struggles . Unfortunately pain is part of the many healing phases we go thru. I could tell you stories that would curl your hair. The medical system here is so-ooo broken. Sometimes a couple shots of toquilla can take the edge off and lots of ice. Take it slow this will settle itself.
I’m so sorry. I am bewildered that this is developing this way for your comfort safety and wellbeing.

yesterday it rained a few times with some wind. rained liked cats and dogs, but only for a few minutes each time, still the ground was already saturated from all of the previous rains plus the melting snow (which is almost all gone now other than the piles in the ditches). last night the winds continued and this morning there is snow on the ground.

we get back to warmer temperatures 36F this afternoon for a bit, but cold again overnight and then back to warmer temps even up to 60F next week.

so no, i'm not shovelling today.

Here is the pie. It is packaged for travel in an old printer paper cardboard box lined with a towel and the parchment paper I used to make the crust.
