Continuing morning freezing, even with sunny and warmer afternoon temperatures.

We may have a 60⁰f (16⁰C) day, today . We had one on Wednesday of last week . Seems like we should be due on a week after such a warm Summer. Rain back for the weekend. Apparently, Mother Nature isn't granting the M-F laborers comfortable recreation days off work.

Finally, the sky darkened and it rained enough for puddles. Back to sprinkles at the moment.

We are having lots of gusty wind and rain tonight. The shadows of the trees are dancing in the streets!

The wind gusts are above 40 mph. There was a power outage not far away — unusual since we are only a couple of miles from a hydroelectric dam.

Temperatures in the mid-30's (4-5 C). We had less than 1/3rd of an inch of rain. The Weather Service says more rain this afternoon.

we are now into chances of hard frosts overnight for some days and last night we did have a hard frost.

i better get that garlic planted sometime soon...

I see on the North American radar map that storm in @baymule 's corner of Texas has now moved east.

It looks very severe in Mississippi and Louisiana.

The winds are greatly reduced here at 9AM. It's funny to look over at the trees bordering the elementary school's playground that were so colorfully covered with Autumn leaves yesterday –– gone! Not the trees, the leaves are gone. That is, they must be piled against the chain-linked fence on the other side of the playground, over there where the swings and such that the littler kids play on. The grounds keepers will have to clear those out by tomorrow morning or there will be a hundred 6-8 year olds making a mess with those wet leaves. Oh yes, there's a 70% chance of more rain this afternoon and tonight before that school bell rings.

they need a fence they can tilt up at night to let the leaves blow, but they put it down in the morning on school days to keep the children under control (an illusion i know, ... )

I got 2 1/2 inches of rain Saturday night. I got 2 1/4" last Saturday. It sure has helped. Been in drought for 3 months, grass was brown and curled up, but has revived considerably. Winter grass hasn't grown with no moisture, hopefully it will try to make up for lost time.
