The Old Farmer's Almanac is still in production, despite the recent announcement that the Farmers' Almanac is ending its run after 2026. The confusion stems from the two separate, but similarly named, publications. The Old Farmer's Almanac, known for its yellow cover, will continue to be published annually, as it has been since 1792.

A private lake in Polk County, county next to the county where I live, had a damaged dam and posed danger to residents. I have a friend that does heavy duty landscaping I got a message from him at 12:30 AM that they were done for the night on the dam repair. I'm guessing that they will be back today for more work on the dam.

we had some snow last night, it hasn't stuck on the driveway yet, but the grass and higher plants have a little bit still on them.

the forecast for today includes another inch and then up to three more inches of snow tonight and much colder so the roads may be a mess tomorrow and i might even have to shovel.

then another inch and then warming up to melt it all off (whatever it is).

you don't want a blowout!

the are repairing and rebuilding the four dams from the washout of 2020, so far they are on schedule and within budget (about 400 million).

the court case continues (to determine if the state or feds had any responsibility).

my brother and SIL live just a few miles from Sanford and many people they know were impacted as we also knew some people who lived on the lakes (and for many years my Dad had a house on Sanford Lake, but they'd moved to FL years before these dam failures happened).

we are downstream but had no flooding here when that happened, but when it was happening i was keeping an eye on things as the way this area is setup the water could have backed up and affected the nearby town we do use for most things (mail, gas, some groceries) and there were issues with some bridges needing to be checked out and inspected before they could be used again by the heavier traffic.

Remember the flavored carnation instant milk packets on snowcones? It is that time of year!
