What do you mean very old? It was there for only a few days. I saw this type last fall in a different location.

Well, I'm not positive of what it is without seeing the underside, but they tend to splay out at the edges and darken as they age. Depending on how much rainfall you've had or not, many mushrooms will pass their prime in only a few days, although I might have thought that one could have been over a week old.
