Lest anyone wonder why we think this is the best-est, friendly-est place on the internet, Mary and Carol are merely the most recent examples.
Why thank you @Smart Red I can hardly wait to see if the Bleeding heart you sent made it through the winter. You are so sweet and generous too! :) hugs, CAROL DEE

OMG Carol, that was the best mint tea I've ever had! I've never had the mint fresh. It's always been a loose mint tea or tea bag. It doesn't even compare, delicious!

Nyboy, I have mint growing in the ground contrary to Lesa's advise. :hide So far it's been contained probably because it's surrounded by bricks and slate pavers. When I see one starting to grow between the bricks I quickly pull the bricks out and pull the plant. So far so good. Yet I've never used it to make hot tea with. The kids love eating the leaves and I put it in fruit salads or in a pitcher of water.

Mary it is real easy to dry. I did not use a dehydrator but advice I learned someplace here on TEG :) Cut fresh stems of mint and place in a brown paper bag. Staple top of bag shut and place in your frost free refrigerator for several weeks until mint leaves are crispy. I find they keep their color better than air drying.

This week I made dried apple slices. And made treats for the dog, he loves dried sweet potatoes.

Today I have more potatoes in. This time I cubed them and they seem more uniform and drying better. I just threw out the last 4 quarts I did. They may not have been dry enough and I put them in jars. I looked and all where molding. :( This batch will go into seal saver bags with all air taken out. I still have a full crate to process. They are all sprouting BIG time. :(
